At Birdie Brennan, we know that the garage is often the largest storage area in your house. With this space being a great place to keep so many of your items, there are endless ways for you to organize it, and Birdie Brennan can help you through her custom garage organization skills.

The Workbench Space

Your workbench is a busy area in your garage with all of the projects that you have, and these projects will be made much easier with an organized space. By organizing your workbench area, you will be able to create a neater and more productive environment.

Before adding any new components to your workbench area, we recommend going through all of your tools and getting rid of anything that you no longer use and items that are defective.

Once you clean out all of your junk drawers, it will be time to organize the rest of your workbench. To start organizing your garage space, here are some garage workbench organization ideas.

1. Pegboard Organization

With pegboard organization, the opportunities are limitless. There are so many different directions that you can go in with this organization option. By implementing a pegboard into your workbench area, you will be able to easily see all of your tools and access everything with ease.

We recommended putting your most used tools toward the bottom and at eye level to easily grab them. With this option, you can mount items, hang cups to hold small parts, or even add shelves to hold select tools.

2. Workbench Shelf Ideas

An alternative option to pegboard organization is adding workbench shelving. By adding shelving, you can easily incorporate baskets or bins as well, keeping everything organized neatly.

Adding small, clear jars is a great option that also creates a pleasing aesthetic. This garage workbench storage idea also makes for a simple way to grab tools and items that you need without much searching. If you already have cabinets in your workspace, consider adding shelves to the sides to increase tool storage.

3. Labeled Containers

Whether within your workbench or atop your workbench, we cannot recommend labeling your containers enough. Labeling will save you time when searching for that item you need for your project, whether it’s a specialized tool, a specific type of fastener, or anything else.

If you have storage room, consider adding totes to your area for those larger tools that you don’t use as often, and be sure to label them too. If your workbench already has drawers, we recommend labeling these as well to quickly find the object you need for your project.

Make it easy to retrieve your items by adding any of these workbench storage ideas to your area. Are you interested in more ways to creatively organize your garage? Check out this blog post for six creative ideas.
